India set to accelerate innovation with supercomputing components manufacturing: Sanjay DhotreNEW DELHI: India is all set to fast-track analysis and growth (R&D) and innovation activities following computational strategies with essential supercomputing components manufacturing regionally, Minister of State for Telecom, IT, and HRD Sanjay Dhotre Monday stated.

“C-DAC has already established a supercomputing ecosystem at IIT BHU, IIT Kharagpur, IISER Pune, and JNCASR Bangalore. And now accelerating the pace of research and innovation using computational science techniques with manufacturing in India critical supercomputing components like the server board, interconnect, rack power controllers and hydraulic controllers, direct liquid-cooled data heart, HPC software program stack is a step in direction of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” Dhotre said.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) was signed between the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) for establishing supercomputing infrastructure with assembly and manufacturing in India and critical components at Indian Institute of Science at Bangalore, and multiple Indian Institutes of Technology such as in Kanpur, Roorkee, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Mandi, Gandhinagar, and NIT Trichy, NABI Mohali.

Training in HPC and Artificial Intelligence could be imparted at NSM’s nodal centres at IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Goa and IIT Palakkad, according to the statement.

“Our mission is to ascertain a reliable and safe exascale ecosystem with progressive designs, disruptive applied sciences and professional human useful resource. Our aim is to develop our personal indigenous {hardware} encompassing exascale chip design, and manufacture of exascale server boards, exascale interconnects and storage together with silicon photonics at C-DAC in step with Atmanirbhar Bharat to realize full self-reliance,” Hemant Darbari, Director General, C-DAC stated.
