NEW DELHI: The B.1.617 variant of the coronavirus, also called the double mutant, is quick changing the N440Okay variant in south India, scientists on the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) mentioned on Tuesday.
Former CCMB director Rakesh Mishra mentioned the double mutant is now a dominant variant in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and now Telangana.
